La Molina is located on the edge of the main tourist routes, in the northern part of the island and at the foot of the Volcán de la Corona, in the town of Máguez.
Originally a mill built in the early 10th century, La Molina has been lovingly restored, respecting the traditional architecture and preserving the structures of the old mill.
La Molina was one of the first motorised mills, and was used to grind gofio, a staple food based on millo (maize) in the diet of the guanches, the original inhabitants of the Canary Islands. It was called the ‘fire mill’, because the motors had to be started with a gunshot.
In every corner of La Molina you will find memories that will take you back to the old milling days. The complex consists of a main building, the mill, where the old engines can still be found. This has been transformed into a large apartment with a private garden, where up to 6 people can be accommodated.
The upper floor is home to ‘Gofio’, an apartment built in what was formerly the old barn, which can accommodate up to 4 people. To the rear of the complex are ‘Trigo’ and ‘Millo’, two studios that have been created in what were old stables and former tool storeroom, which can accommodate up to 3 people each.
There is a central square, with a barbecue, sun beds and a jacuzzi area, where all guests can relax in a rural atmosphere.
With capacity for a total of 16 people, the structure is divided into separate areas that function equally well as individual homes, or as a residential retreat for groups.
