SOBRE LAS FORMAS DE HABITAR
10º Encuentro Bienal de Arte Lanzarote
This exhibition is the result of the preparatory work for monograph ‘Ways of living. Architecture after architecture with no architects’, encouraging us to think about the importance of César Manrique’s book ‘Lanzarote Arquitectura inédita’. It is also an addition to the exhibition displayed in MIAC – Castillo de San José about Fernando Higueras, an essential figure when it comes to understanding an important part of this book and the architectural work of the artist from Lanzarote.
The exhibition revolves around one of the main topics of the monograph: the radical functional transformations that start when Casa-Museo del Campesino was built in 1964, and that were topped up when Lanzarote Arquitectura Inédita was published . The exhibition shows those transformations with constructive examples that go from the traditional house, to the salinas, as well as water reservoirs, alcogida (constructions used to collect the rainfall that ends up at the reservoirs), camels and roads.
‘Ways of living. Architecture after architecture with no architects’ includes the work of artists Rubén Acosta, Teresa Arozena, Karina Beltrán, Virgilio Gutiérrez, Ángel Padrón, Carlos Schwartz, Nuria Vidal, as well as two original projects aimed at children, organised by the Centres’ Department of Education and Cultural Events (DEAC).
Opening Hours: Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. | Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
