04. Alex: art and sensibility, part of his DNA.
His Universe: creativity.
Colours, shapes, materials, the desire to create, ideas
that are woven together into
notebooks packed with work.
The north, his family and the sea.
His roots are clear, so clear that they define who he is today, and the source of his passions. He is emotional when he speaks about the people close to him, because he feels that those who accompany him on his road through life have been there for more than half his life.
Since our conversation with Alex started his brothers have been on his mind.
Every Noche de San Juan (St John’s Eve) he turns into the Diablo de Haría (the Devil of Haría) following the tradition – or really the fun idea – his brother Reinaldo and his friend Ramón came up with.
When he becomes the devil he feels absolute intensity, as well as pride in being able to continue the legacy.
He also remembers how a teacher from the School of Arts and Crafts saw similarities in his drawings with those of his brothers, and how he began to use the jigsaw in 1999 to help out his oldest brother, Juan Andrés. And that’s how he began to build his first set.
