06. Gustavo: the sky and the landscape. The search.

Light, sky, the moon, the tides…
Gustavo Medina has spent half his life listening to and understanding all the elements of the landscape. Throughout this time he has gifted us with the best images of his favourite subject matter: Lanzarote.

When from a very early age he went out to the countryside with his father, to La Geria, the landscape made an impact on him and he felt a genuine desire to capture it for posterity. He was conscious of the fact that even in Lanzarote few people had the opportunity to enjoy it. That was how he got hold of his first camera some 30 years ago. Back then, one roll of film, 36 shots, gave just 3 photos that were worth keeping.

The search.
The ability to be patient,
the wisdom that comes from understanding time.

Gustavo wants to surprise. And he achieves it. To do so, he combines images of Lanzarote with atmospheric elements that bring the landscape to life. Over the years he has come to specialise in time-lapse photography and throughout this time he has given us impressive images.
When Lanzarote burns…

His passion for seeking the most unusual images involves sacrifice, time and long wakeful nights. All this is possible thanks to the unconditional support of his family.
