03. Pilar: Courage and Joy.

“A girl from el Charco”
That’s how she describes herself.
Also as a happy woman.
She grew up free and in contact with the sea.

Blue and white. Her childhood home is painted in Lanzarote’s characteristic marine colours. Pilar stands in front of the old facade, watching the small boats in el Charco de San Ginés, and smiles. When she looks back at her life, she sees she was happy, free, and always playing by the sea, which at high tide threw itself against the front of her house.

It’s important to stop, it’s vital to listen to yourself.
Reinventing yourself from time to time is an achievement.
The doors? Always open.
She trusts life and she has dreams.
Life is a privilege…

Every morning, before her clients arrive, she gazes at the impressive views, gives thanks to life and feels fortunate. Making sad stomachs happy is her gift!

Life is always changing and success lies in our capacity to adapt. During the crisis, Pilar had to remake her life. She trained as a chef and at the age of 61, the oldest member of staff, she is happy working in the kitchens of Arrecife Gran Hotel’s Star City restaurant.

Family, friends…
and Greta

… these are without doubt her best allies.

She is a real example of joy and resilience. Thank you for sharing your essence with us.
